In April 2010, Sanger wrote a letter to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, outlining his concerns that two categories of images on Wikimedia Commons contained child pornography, and were in violation of US federal obscenity law.[251][252] Sanger later clarified that the images, which were related to pedophilia and one about lolicon, were not of real children, but said that they constituted "obscene visual representations of the sexual abuse of children", under the PROTECT Act of 2003.[253] That law bans photographic child pornography and cartoon images and drawings of children that are obscene under American law.[253] Sanger also expressed concerns about access to the images on Wikipedia in schools.[254] Wikimedia Foundation spokesman Jay Walsh strongly rejected Sanger's accusation,[255] saying that Wikipedia did not have "material we would deem to be illegal. If we did, we would remove it."[255] Following the complaint by Sanger, Wales deleted sexual images without consulting the community. After some editors who volunteered to maintain the site argued that the decision to delete had been made hastily, Wales voluntarily gave up some of the powers he had held up to that time as part of his co-founder status. He wrote in a message to the Wikimedia Foundation mailing-list that this action was "in the interest of encouraging this discussion to be about real philosophical/content issues, rather than be about me and how quickly I acted".[256] Critics, including Wikipediocracy, noticed that many of the pornographic images deleted from Wikipedia since 2010 have reappeared.[257]
In May 2014, Wikimedia Foundation named Lila Tretikov as its second executive director, taking over for Sue Gardner.[276] The Wall Street Journal reported on May 1, 2014, that Tretikov's information technology background from her years at University of California offers Wikipedia an opportunity to develop in more concentrated directions guided by her often repeated position statement that, "Information, like air, wants to be free."[277][278] The same Wall Street Journal article reported these directions of development according to an interview with spokesman Jay Walsh of Wikimedia, who "said Tretikov would address that issue (paid advocacy) as a priority. 'We are really pushing toward more transparency ... We are reinforcing that paid advocacy is not welcome.' Initiatives to involve greater diversity of contributors, better mobile support of Wikipedia, new geo-location tools to find local content more easily, and more tools for users in the second and third world are also priorities", Walsh said.[277]
Since it comes with little more than a text editor and a terminal, the first thing you should do is install some applications. The Apps icon in the bottom launcher bar displays all the Tiny Core packages available to you. The Apps repository also includes important drivers, so it's useful when you're looking to get a WiFi card or a printer working.
ONLYJames Michael Lyngdoh can manage the contradiction of talking like an angel and yet making crooked politicians tremble with fear. In the badlands of manipulative politics he is what Phantom is in the world of fictional crimes. He is now virtually on the go to ensure free and fair assembly elections in five states between late November and early December. The beleaguered Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Mr Ajit Jogi, has been told by him to stop the distribution of school bags carrying Mr Jogi's picture. Under the tough provisions of the model code of conduct it is an unfair electoral practice. When Mr Jogi was charged with having forged certain documents, a day after the announcement of the poll schedule, he said the exercise was politically motivated. He cannot hurl the same charge at the CEC without the risk of causing further damage to his already bruised political image. Not that Mr Lyngdoh has not been called names by politicians. The top boss at Nirvachan Ayog never allows personal attacks to stop him from doing his duty faithfully and efficiently. The Gujarat elections were held under extremely trying circumstances. However, even the aggressive and boorish approach of Chief Minister Narendra Modi did not make the CEC throw up his hands in despair. He is indeed a tough nut to crack, particularly under hostile conditions. The proof of his efficient and fair conduct of elections in Gujarat and later Jammu and Kashmir came in the form of praise from the international observers. Mr Jogi is not the only leader who has been served notice by the Election Commission. The Madhya Pradesh government was recently told to put on hold its on-going projects. The banners and posters put up by political parties and prospective candidates in Delhi were removed on the directions of the EC. On Wednesday Mr Lyngdoh along with his colleagues visited Rajasthan to examine complaints of violation of the model code of conduct by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and other ministers. The Centre too was told to stop the high profile advertisement campaign highlighting the government's achievement in the past four years. The prompt response of the Election Commission in dealing with complaints of abuse of power for influencing the voters is good news for the image of parliamentary democracy. A much bigger test lies ahead. Mr Lyngdoh may have to crack the whip again if crooks and criminals are allowed to enter the electoral arena by their political patrons.
This seems obviously right to me. If we had Fully Automated Luxury Gay Space Communism complete with people making factories, we should indeed be mass producing humans to maximize how many of them get to enjoy paradise. In the real world, however, adding more humans has considerable opportunity costs, particularly if nobody wants them, which means that we should be focusing on bettering the lives of those that already exist rather than bringing more into existence.
And for helping them get into the coding mindset, having them work through debugging Excel formulas for similar real-world applications is excellent, as well as giving them the skills to be capable of using Excel flexibly at work. For example, the Excel formula to detect duplicates uses the dot product! You can start them on the road to linear algebra, but also how to think about stepping in and out of functions!
I actually think that anthology series are due for a comeback. Not episode by episode, but each season doing its own thing in a similar style or genre, like true detective. It lets you craft very serialized, integrated story arcs without the difficulties and risks of planning them out years in advance. Plus the ones that really work you can spin off into their own series.
But there is a way to stem the tide of a new type of gun that is proliferating unchecked. President Joe Biden can use executive action to crack down on "ghost guns," which avoid regulation and serial numbers because they are sold unfinished or as kits. 2ff7e9595c
